The Fillmore Senior Center will be looking for “New Board Members” in June, so if your interested please

come in and pick up an application, or e-mail us at fillmoresrcenter@sbcglobal.net we will send you an application.  The only requirement is you must be 55 & live within the Fillmore Unified School District.

Thursday, May 23 Low Vision class will be offered at 10 a.m. The Braille Institute offers Free programs and services to help anyone regardless of your visual impairment. This can include; cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and more not just people with blindness.  This is not replacing seeing the doctor, this is giving you support that will help visually impaired people live a more empowered, fulfilled life.  Life skills include orientation and mobility, computers, cooking and home management. Each month the Low Vision Class will focus on a different life skill.   The May 23  class will be focusing on “cooking and getting in touch with your Kitchen. Please let us know your coming 524-4533

Monday, June 3 Free Legal Workshop for Seniors at 1 to 3 p.m.  Presented by Ventura County Area Agency on Aging & Grey Law.  Learn about Advance health care directives, Creating a Will, Power of Attorney, Caregiver’s Authorization Affidavit, Grandchildren and legal relationships’, Housing disputes, When you need the Courts and much more. Friday, June 7  is Presenting a “FREE” Financial Workshop from 10 to 11:30 a.m.  Open to seniors 55 and older.  “Living Within Your Means” will include topics such as working within a budget, clearing debt, setting priorities and more. The speaker, Harry Starn is the Associated Director of the California Institute of Finance at California Lutheran University.  He will provide tools that can be used to ease the stress of planning your finances, no matter what your income situation is.  Registration is required for this event,  Call 524-4533 to reserve your space.   The Center is located at 533 Santa Clara Street, In Fillmore.
